Some of the best assignments aren't about making the perfect photograph—they're about being invited into someone else's world.
One of my favorite things about photographing for TexAppeal Magazine is getting to meet so many interesting people. This assignment took me to a local apiary, where I spent the morning with a beekeeper as she cared for one of her hives while thousands of honeybees went about their work.
For one morning I traded my studio lights for sunshine, slowing down long enough to photograph the relationship between the beekeeper and the bees. It was a fascinating glimpse into a craft most of us rarely get to see up close.
